Joseph's canal, lies just east of the pyramid
of Amenemehet III. This canal was dug during the time of Amenemhet III,
a critical element in maximizing the fertility of the Fayum area, so important
during the middle kingdom. The famous Joseph's Canal, is thought to have
been built by the biblical Joseph.
